I undertook Honours study part-time over two years - using dance to recover from myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome).
My project included:
- studio research with LINK dance company
- a Bundanon residency with Alexandra Harrison, Rhiannon Newton, Julian Wong and Dominik Mall
- presenting a durational work in Spectrum Project Space and
- a written thesis (read below).
While this research focused on maximising health recovery in the dance training environment (informed primarily by exercise physiology) it also ignited my practices of somatic intentional rest and dance improvisation responding to changing energy in the body. These two practices were the beginning of my enduring creative approach 'dancing with rest' and led to the creation of my work A Resting Mess and many other related projects.

My Honours thesis is published in the ECU online archives here and as a pdf below.
