WWIM/akeshift is a title used to group improvisation events in 2024-25 that were produced (both together and individually) by Saskia Willinge and WWIM (Walyalup Weekend of Improvised Music), and Lara Dorling of Makeshift Evenings. These two generous emerging artists have each curated new platforms for performance practice and community building.
WWIM and Makeshift make a powerful impact on the growth of experimentation, friendship and dialogue for sound and movement artists in Boorloo. The platforms have enabled continuation of my project with Josten Myburgh (see REST DUET) and seeded my creative duo in dance, voice and writing with Lara.
The events pictured are:
- Make-Shift #7, 2/8/2024, Daisy / Josten duet, King St. Arts Centre
- WWIM-Makeshift, 7/9/24, curated performance (3 sets leading into an open improvisation), PS Arts space Walyalup
- WWIM Day2Nite, 2/11/24, Daisy / Lara courtyard duet with ensemble scribing / sound making, Rhein-Donau Club
- Make-Shift #9, 6/12/2024, Daisy / Lara Duet, King St. Arts Centre
- WWIM Transit, Daisy / Lara (movement/voice), Annika Moses (sound), Jo Pollitt (writing), Rod Evans Community Centre
There are also images of Daisy and Lara dancing with Tone List Orchestra at Sounds for Palestine, a fundraising event curated by Josten on 15/9/2024.
