Warm thanks to Sally Richardson for the opportunity to join the final stage of her project Gui Shu / BELONG as Associate Artist.
I assisted with refining dramaturgy and choreographic detail for the premiere at Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) in November 2019. I was delighted to meet the international artists and participate in intercultural dialogue and community celebration, including many hours of karaoke. I led yoga warm up and understudied the performers in this gentle, visually poetic work.
"GUI SHU is an immersive performance experience with accompanying video installation. It combines the artistry of sound, vision and dance artists from Taiwan and Australia. From the laneways, malls and teeming streets of Taipei to the bush scapes and surburbia of Australia, GUI SHU is a journey and insight to these people and places - revealing how culture shapes and transforms us."
